• when the Earth is located between the Sun and the Moon in a straight line, lunar eclipse occurs.

• Sunlight is blocked by the Earth from reaching the Moon.

• No sunlight is reflected by the Moon. Thus, we cannot see the Moon.

• This phenomenon can only be observed at night.
